I keep trying to get Lola laughing on camera, and on Friday I caught her doing a massive belly laugh while she was being silly with Nana.
I’ve mentioned before that Lola LOVES to walk everywhere; it’s very cute and she wants to explore everything. Here is a video of her walking around with Gramps.
Lola is quickly developing her verbal skills. She has been able to say what resembles “yah yah,” “Da Da,” “Ma Ma,” and “wow”. She is also able to express herself through growling – yes, growling. We’ve discovered that, when she likes playing with something, she growls. Here she is in action:
Lola can now sit very well (as you can see from the video) and, when she was sitting in her crib, leaned over and pulled herself up on the railing. We’re really proud of this new ability, but we’ve also taken the proper precautions and moved her mattress down a level so she can’t pull herself OUT of the crib.
Lola had her first ever vacation last week when we went to Wales with Christine, Richard, Caggy, Nick, Fern, Hugo and Stanley (Hugo and Stanley are dogs). It was beautiful and we were in the middle of nowhere, as you can see from the pictures. There were lots of great trails and we even got to see some bats! Lola was really well-behaved during the six-hour car ride – both there and back, what a good girl!
Here are some of the photos from our trip:

Lola continues to be obsessed with mugs. If you have a mug, she will reach for it. If she can touch it, she will grab it and start chewing on the edge. So Auntie Fern bought Lola her very own pink baby mug! It’s a bit safer than the heavy, breakable grown-up ones.
Lola also sat up by herself for the first time in Wales! Here is a video of her on our bed in Wales. She can sit by herself for a little while before she topples over:
It was really warm here a few weeks ago, so Lola got her first taste of summery weather. She looked so cute in her summer dresses! We took her for a walk one day to see the bluebells in Bletchingley.

Lola smiles and laughs a lot now, but it’s difficult to catch on camera. We finally have her laughing on video!
Lola has discovered that when she does a “froggy kick” in her bouncy chair, she can get some serious bounce in! Looks like she’ll be good at pumping on the swings!
Lola rolled over for a second time! She seemed to be really pleased with herself, here’s the video:
Lola also started eating “solids” (baby rice) for the first time. She is much better at eating it now, but here’s a video of her first solid food:
This week has been really sunny and warm, so it’s the first real sunny day for Lola – and she got to try out her new sunhat and glasses! I think she looks adorable.

I also finally remembered to take a photo of our house. I’ll try to take more of the inside when it’s clean, haha!
Our house... in the middle of our street...
Finally, Lola is starting to display some of her quirks… in this video, she is trying to eat her bib, her fist, and her dress… babies are so funny!
Lola is nearly 15 weeks old now, and she has grown so much! She is almost 11 pounds, so gaining weight really well. Lola is also developing her communications skills by practicing lots of shrieks, gurgles, coos, and other weird but super-cute noises. Yesterday, she did a really big giggle! She also had more shots last week, poor baby! The worst part is that I have to hold down her legs while the nurse jabs her in each thigh, it’s so horrible! But, it’s better than getting polio or diptheria or whatever else they protect against.
Lola now smiles a lot more, we’ve even been able to catch some smiles on camera! Normally she goes stone-faced as soon as she sees the camera. Here is a video of her playing with a block and then giving a cute smile – you’ll also see another of her fave hobbies, sucking on her hand…
Lola also has an adorable Tigger bouncer from Uncle Nick and Auntie Fern, she LOVES it:
The tail-wagging is the best.
Here are some photos of her recently too:
Lola with Nana - and Nana's baby picture, which looks a LOT like Lola!
Lola had a big day today – she managed to hit the blue elephant on her bouncy chair all by herself! She also said “muh” (M sound) for the first time today, what a smart girl!
