Marathon training has begun

Sam started his Marathon training last week, he went out for a 1 mile run with his Mum, just to help him get used to running again, as he hasn’t done any decent exercise for a few years. The run was going fine until Sam’s ankles started to hurt, and it was at that moment he knew he had to invest in some top quality running shoes, and fast! So he got them sorted, and went out for another run last night (Tuesday night), this time Lara came with him and they ran for 1.2 miles.

Sam will continue with the short runs for now, just so he can get used to running and get his body prepared for the intense training that will be happening very soon. He’s getting so much valuable advice from so many people, which is great. He is however concerned that 26.5 miles is actually quite far, and so maybe he might have to save winning it until next year…

…that is a joke, I am not doing it next year! I will win it this year!

Please don’t forget to sponsor Sam at www.justgiving.com/samchild – he appreciates all the support

Virgin London Marathon 2010

Sam found out this morning that he has got a charity place at next years London Marathon!

He will be running for Phab Kids, which is a fantastic charity (http://phabkids.co.uk/), they promote and encourage people with and without physical disabilities to come together on equal terms, to achieve complete integration within the wider community and to make more of life together.

The money he raises will help to fund and organise the Phabkids residential holidays for disabled and non disabled children.

Sam Uncle Paul did the marathon last year, and the year before that his Auntie Caggy do it, so he has to beat their times and is even planning to win the whole thing!

We’ll be sending around ways you can sponsor Sam soon, so please look out for that, and he would hugely appreciate any sponsorship people can afford!

He’ll be keeping you all up to date on his training, so keep checking back.
